Presentation- Layout Plan

Untitled-1

This is my planned presentation. Ive chosen to place the ‘television head’ in the centre because of the fact that its the most surrealist meaning out of all my images. This layout complements the minimalistic approach that I’ve been following throughout my project. The central image will be A2 with the other two images being A3. I will be placing my images on the corridor so that the audience will be eye level with my images.

Surrealism shoot 3-Plan

My plan for this shoot is influenced by Rene Magritte’s painting ‘The Son of Man’.

Im going to create a surreal photograph in the same style but also not a direct copy of the painting. I will use a subject, a prob and a single lighting to keep the photograph minimalistic and use as little as possible to create this. Instead of a bird or an apple that Magritte used I will use a television over my subjects face to portray the meaning that people are controlled by televisions. So using the television over the head will produce the message that our minds are being taken over my televisions.

This is a lighting diagram of how I will set up my props in the studio. I will have a single light over the subject facing directly down, I will have a plain backdrop so there is not distractions.

Surrealism photoshoot Plan

The plan for my surrealism shoot is to create an illusion but also confuse the viewer into what is real and what isn’t. I will photograph in the studio and later use post-production to create realistic surrealism in my images. My shoot is inspired by the works of Salvador Dali and Philippe Halsman. I want to merge both of their works into one image. The way Dali uses painting and creates dream like worlds and how Halsman creates more realistic images from photographing in the studio. I have a few ideas of what I want to create such as; Raining clouds in the studio, creating surreal worlds with Photoshop, and using photography as a way to merge both reality and fiction.

Shoot 2- Studio space Plan

Equipment:

  • Canon 600D
  • Tripod
  • Softbox
  • Standard lighting
  • Stool
  • Table
  • Back backdrop
  • Mirror

My plan for this shoot is to create a series of images that respond to the concept of space in the studio. With my ideas of showing the lighting and background of the image which wouldn’t normally be seen by the viewer. This would then show the viewer the ‘space’ around the image. I generated this idea, not by research but just a creating process, my shoot will be all on the spot creativity. I will have the foundation of the idea of ‘space’ to create what I have in my mind into reality.

Shoot 1 plan

Equipment:

  • DSLR Camera
  • Tripod
  • Softbox Lighting
  • Black Backdrop
  • Snoot
  • Portrait Lens

Plan

My plan for this shoot is to photograph the subject, starting from a close up of their nose. Gradually zooming out and photographing another section of their face. Eventually I would have photographed their whole face. Then in post production I will merge the images together to create a portrait. I will also edit my portraits, to become black and white with high contrast because of the fact that I want to create a unique abstract portrait.

Research Plan

Before I start producing work for a selected theme I want to get a more in-depth understanding of what the themes are.  The themes can be interpreted into many understandings, so with in-depth research into these themes I will get a broader understanding and from the research, ill be able to narrow down the choices and what theme I want to focus on during this module.

I will be researching:

  • Space
  • Time
  • Identity
  • Truth
